Using your image and document libraries

In this article, you'll learn how to access your image library and document library, what file types they both accept, and how to delete files from the libraries.

With ease and efficiency in mind, we provide free storage space for both your images and documents. You can use the image library for quick access to images that you use regularly in your campaigns or choose to upload new ones, and the document library allows you to store files that you want recipients to be able to download, as an attachment.

File types and sizes the image library accepts

Your Frankie account comes with an image library that stores the images you use in your campaigns with a maximum library limit of 5GB. Considering the images will be formatted for emails, there is also a 1MB limit on how large the image file can be that you upload. However, you don't have to store images in your library in order to upload them to one of your campaigns. You can upload images directly from your computer, as well as from your connected Facebook or Flickr accounts.

The image library accepts the following file types:

  • .jpeg
  • .gif
  • .png
Only use RGB color values

Because the images in your Frankie account are for use in your mailings, all images need to be in RGB color values, as opposed to CMYK color values. CMYK color values are for print and won't render in an online environment, whereas RGB color values are set for online use.

How to access your image library

There are two ways that you can access your image library. The first is from your Campaigns page, where you can click the Images tab in the lefthand sidebar. Your image library will pop up and you will see the images you have previously uploaded.

If you'd like to add more images, just look for the blue Upload button on the righthand side of the page. You can also use the downward-pointing arrow to the right of each image file to download it, copy the URL of the image, or delete it.

The second way you can access your image library is from an open campaign / mailing. To do this, navigate your cursor to an image placeholder in the mailing you're working on and click on Select from library.

The window that appears is your image library, which by default opens to the Library tab, and you will also see tab options for Facebook and Flickr where you can access the images in those connected accounts. On the righthand side of the image library is where you will find the blue Upload button to add new images and a Search field that will search your images by file name.

How to delete or rename files in your image library

You can easily delete or rename an image file by hovering over it in your image library, then clicking either Delete or Rename below the image.

File types and sizes the document library accepts

The document library allows you to save your files to our server and then link your mailing recipients right to them. It's a safe alternative to attaching a file directly to the mailing — which can cause the entire email to be blocked by spam filters or firewalls. Similar to the image library, the document library has a maximum library limit of 5GB, but for documents, but the limit of how big a single file can be is 25MB.

The document library accepts the following file types:

  • .txt
  • .rtf
  • .vcf
  • .xpo
  • .ogx
  • .pdf
  • .xls, .xlsx
  • .doc, .docx
  • .ppt, .pptx
  • .ics
  • .swf
  • .mpeg
  • .m4a
  • .wav
  • .mp3
  • .mov
  • .flv
  • .avi
  • .asf

How to access your document library

Just like the image library, there are two ways that you can access your document library. The first is from your Campaigns page, where you can click the Documents tab in the lefthand sidebar. Your document library will pop up and you will see the files you have previously uploaded.

If you'd like to add a new document, simply click on the blue Upload button on the righthand side of the page. To download a file directly from your library, just click on the file name and it will instantly download the file to your device. Or, you can also use the downward-pointing arrow to the right of each file name to download it, copy a URL of the file, or delete the file from your library.

The second way you can access your document library is from an open campaign / mailing. When using the drag and drop editor, the only place you can add a document to a mailing is from a Text block. To do this, navigate your cursor to a Text box in the mailing and click anywhere to bring up the Text toolbar.

Click on the chainlink icon in the toolbar and the Link to box will appear. Go to the Document tab and then click in the Choose a document field to select from a dropdown menu of the files you have in your document library, or you can add a new file by clicking the Upload button next to this field.

Here, you also have the option to add a Link name which is what the response summary email will use to reference the clicks you garner from the link, and the Tooltip is text that the recipient would see if they hovered over the link in your campaign.

How to delete files from your document library

If you are close to reaching the 5GB limit for your document library, be sure to delete old files to make room for new ones. You should also keep in mind that with cloud storage, you don't need to worry about any documents that you're linking to no longer working from mailings you've already sent.

To delete a document, go to the Campaigns tab of your Frankie account and select the Documents tab in the lefthand sidebar. Once your document library appears, click the downward-pointing arrow to the right of the file name, and then click on Delete. A confirmation message will pop up that lets you know the file will be deleted permanently, click Delete again to confirm.
